CTE, the leader in Real-Time Enterprise
Solutions, has helped the Energy Company
build several RTE applications that
help the utility giant improve customer satisfaction
and productivity.
In its Annual Report 2003, The Company
has described three applications - Smart
Bill, OSCAR and OTIS, saying: “This
was a year of listening to and meeting our
customers’ needs… new technology
and innovative ideas… enhance your
quality of life, at home, at work and in
our community…”
Describing the Smart Bill,
the Annual Report says: “The Company
launched a new customer information and
billing system in June. The project launch
incorporated the integration of 29 operating
system interfaces ranging from geographical
information systems, meter reading, bill
printing, and payment transactions to outage
management systems.” The report
adds: “The Company ’s new
one-bill consolidates all services into
one, easy-to-use statement.”
The report also elaborates on Outage
Trending Information System (OTIS),
a central outage information repository
powered in real-time, which enables The
Company to track power outage trends and
be more proactive in providing reliable
electric service. “The system
captures important electric outage information
and enables The Company to set up notification
criteria for monitoring circuits and frequent
outages. Through proactive infrared thermography,
The Company routinely scans The Company
substations, overhead distribution lines,
and underground distribution cabinets to
locate hot spots and schedule repairs of
potential failures before they occur,”
the report says.
The Annual Report then goes on to elaborate
the benefits of the Optimal System
Control of Aquifer Resources (OSCAR)
application that provides a dashboard view
of well data and allows for trend identification
and system optimization, thereby improving
decision-making that directly impacts water
quality, mitigates environmental impact,
and helps to address breakage/leakage. The
report says: “OSCAR allows The
Company to decrease the amount of water
drawn from the Floridan Aquifer, and increase
the quality of water to meet our customers’
water demands.”
