The CTE Center of Innovation (CCI) has innovated Cambridge Executive Workshops (CEWs) to help enterprises find transformational and integration solutions that turn technology innovation into business results and help them evolve into future-ready businesses.

An integral part of CCI’s unique Cambridge Collaborative Delivery™ (CCD™) methodology, CEWs enables client enterprises to envision customized business solutions. Through CEWs, the CCI provides a forum for rapid identification, development and presentation of innovative, technology-driven solutions to business problems. CEW Approach

Cambridge Executive Workshops (CEWs) are innovative forums that bring together CTE’s expert business and technology consultants and the strategic management team of the client enterprise, for rapid identification, development, and presentation of innovative, technology driven-solutions to business problems. Through CEWs, CTE helps client enterprises visualize and develop the road map for solutions that can reinvent their business processes and workflows by aligning appropriate IT solutions with well-developed business strategies and plans.

CEWs enable client enterprises to harness CTE’s expertise in business consulting, system integration, cloud computing and application outsourcing, its outstanding partner alliances, industry and business process knowledge, deep understanding of emerging technologies, functional capabilities, and global resources and technology. The CEW approach enables the client enterprise to make quick and successful transitions with visible and measurable ROIs from executive support and organizational sponsorship, executive visibility and team representation, the prototype and implementation roadmap, and new strategies and solution support.

CEW Process

During the workshops, CTE shares knowledge of its methodologies, processes, and systems to ensure that client teams can fully and independently generate the outcome of the workshop. CTE delivers the framework for idea generation and prioritization, as well as the tools, technologies, and techniques used for rapid development.

At the end of the CEW engagement, the client enterprise team presents the solution and business case to its senior management. The enterprise can then use the deliverables from the workshops as the first steps toward extending their IT infrastructure to solve their business problems and for developing an IT strategy that supports their business objectives.

Offering Purpose Duration

Visioning Session Executive Seminars are designed to put business case analyses in an executive education context. Discussions center on near-term opportunities, business process advancement, IT developments, CIO concerns, and strategic initiatives. 1 Day

Visioning Seminar Innovation Visioning Seminars focus on CTE’s unique Right-Hand/Left-Hand framework, trying to lead the customer to develop new ideas. Attendees learn how this model for innovation can be specifically applied to their organization. 1 Day

Architecture Assessment An Architecture Assessment focuses on creating an Affordable & Adaptable IT (A2IT) Blueprint. It is meant to help tie IT to business on a global scale by looking at business, process, and technology. The Assessment looks at architecture, infrastructure, planning, and governance. 1-8 Weeks

Innovation Workshop Visioning Workshops are conducted to define a shared business/IT vision. The process starts by building a profound understanding of the business problem and engaging key senior stakeholders in an idea generation environment. The team groups and prioritizes ideas to structure high-level workstreams that collectively move the organization from the “as-is” situation to the “to-be” stage. 3 Weeks

Application Workshop The Application Workshop builds on the vision and goals developed in the Visioning Workshop (or equivalent) by taking one of the identified workstreams and creating a focused requirements-based prototype visualization of the desired end product. 3-4 Weeks

Pilot The Pilot takes a spiral-based delivery approach to rapidly demonstrate value to the customer. The Pilot is a natural extension of an application workshop and it can be viewed as the first spiral of a rapid application development process. 15-20 Weeks

Through team member selection and the final presentation to the client's executive management, CTE’s workshop approach secures support across the organization for the strategy and solution.

CTE assists the customer in identifying the right team members to maximize the workshop's value to the organization, based on criteria such as expertise, influence, and team dynamics.
Cross-functional customer teams brainstorm and contribute ideas freely as they work with one another and with the CTE staff.
CTE professionally trains the customer team to present the solution and accompanying business case in a compelling manner to customer senior executives.

Implementation

Prototype and Implementation Roadmap

The prototype visualizes the solution ideas and provides the basis for application deployment.
Daily iterations of the prototype allow rapid idea incorporation; this flexibility is reflected in the resulting application, which is ideal for ever-changing business environments.
An implementation roadmap tailored to the customer's organizational plans shows the next steps to build the solution in independently-beneficial 15-week phases, enabling quick capture of the returns shown in the business case.

New Strategies and Solution Support

CTE assists and empowers the customer to create new competitive strategies by using the "Right-Hand/Left-Hand" framework and by identifying goals, critical success factors, and lazy assets.
During the intense workshop process, CTE teaches the customer team to develop and present compelling quantitative and qualitative benefits, costs analyses, and the deployment roadmap for these strategies.
