Cambridge Technology Enterprises and Software AG announces strategic alliance to provide cost-effective XML-Based solutions
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. and RESTON, VA -- February 20, 2002 - Cambridge Technology Enterprises (CTE) Inc., Inc., a leading provider of high quality, cost effective Internet and enterprise technology services and Software AG, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Software AG, Europe's largest system software provider and a pioneer in XML technologies, today announced that the two companies have formed a strategic alliance that allows Cambridge Technology Enterprises to offer its customers Software AG's award-winning Tamino™ XML Server.

As a result of the alliance, Cambridge Technology Enterprises will offer XML-based solutions by integrating Tamino with its solutions set for its wide range of clients. Concurrently, Software AG will leverage Cambridge Technology Enterprises's industry expertise in developing solutions for Software AG's customers. This alliance will focus on providing solutions within the finance/banking and education markets.

"A synergistic and complementary relationship is how I look at this agreement between Cambridge Technology Enterprises and Software AG," said Bhaskar Panigrahi, CEO, Cambridge Technology Enterprises. "Cambridge Technology Enterprises has the opportunity to work with one of the best XML servers and deliver the 'value' that we promise each of our customers."

"Cambridge Technology Enterprises is an ideal partner because of its direct knowledge and technical expertise gained from working with Tamino during the past year and a half," said Lori Williams-Peters, Software AG, Inc.'s Vice President of Sales. "With its focus on the development of large-scale Web-based applications, Cambridge Technology Enterprises is in an ideal position to successfully integrate Tamino into its platform."

Tamino can store any kind of data - structured or unstructured. It is the first native XML server to store and process XML data without having to convert it to other formats and store it in relational tables first. As a result, response times are shorter and the setup of the database and the administrative effort required are significantly lower than with traditional databases.

Cambridge Technology Enterprises is a two-time winner of the New England Technology Fast 50 program, presented by Deloitte and Touche, as well as two-time winner on Inc. Magazine's Annual Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing companies in the country, for 2000 and 2001. Cambridge Technology Enterprises prides itself in providing cost-effective, high-quality solutions by leveraging its vastly experienced team and global delivery infrastructure. With the inclusion of Software AG's XML-based solutions, Cambridge Technology Enterprises will be in a better position to provide services to its customers in need of leveraging the power of XML.
