Software AG and Cambridge Technology Enterprises form Solutions Alliance To Deliver XML- Based Electronic Statements

Interactive Electronic Statements Gain Improved Performance and Scalability with Software AG's Tamino and XML Mediator
RESTON, VA - August 21, 2002 - Software AG, Inc., a pioneer in XML solutions, and Cambridge Technology Enterprises (CTE) Inc., a leading XML and mobile solutions provider, announced today an agreement to develop interactive, electronic statements to enable companies to aggregate data from multiple sources and provide multi-channel statement delivery to enhance online account management and customer self-service solutions.

The "power statement" solution is based on XML open standards and enables companies to distribute interactive, individualized summaries of information, such as health care benefits, retirement statements, payroll information, work orders or invoices via e-mail to the recipient's PC, laptop, PDA or voice-mail. In a business-to-business scenario, this information can be analyzed, summarized and re-purposed into other back-end systems. This 'push-pull' approach delivers rich content to users while minimizing operational costs and increasing customer satisfaction.

"Both organizations and their customers are demanding more efficient and effective online account management and self-service," said Gary Voight, President and CEO of Software AG, Inc. "We have identified an extremely robust solution, using XML, that goes far beyond the single channel 'push' effect of the early electronic billing packages. In addition to distributing billing information, companies can explore new revenue streams and cross-sell via customized, user-targeted messages."

The combined power of Software AG's Tamino, a high performance platform for native XML storage and metadata repository, and EntireX XML Mediator, an XML document exchange tool that manages the flow and behavior of XML-based information, and Cambridge Technology Enterprises's Smart Statement platform and rapid application deployment expertise enable companies to enhance corporate communication as well as customer satisfaction through:
  • Statement storage, tracking, and distribution according to configurable schedules and query-based retrieval
  • Interactive, animated presentations, including informational popups and tutorials
  • Flexible customizations, including one-click e-mail and wireless alerts highlighting critical information
  • Immediate and secure access to back-end applications

Business-logic based messaging to deliver targeted marketing campaigns "As a leading XML solutions provider, we are excited to leverage Software AG's award-winning XML software to bring improved availability, reliability and scalability to our interactive statements and solutions," said Bhaskar Panigrahi, CEO of Cambridge Technology Enterprises. "Our power statements encompass the need to conduct business via multi-channels for a more effective and more efficient way to distribute and extract information. Tamino and XML Mediator give us an open architecture that ensures ongoing interoperability and future extensibility to continually enhance information included in power statements."
