Cambridge Technology Enterprises India achieves SEI-CMM Level 4 Joins Elite List of High Capability Maturity Software Companies

Hyderabad, January 28th, 2004 - Cambridge Technology Enterprises (CTE) Pvt. Ltd., the offshore development center and wholly owned subsidiary of CTE, Inc., a leading provider of real-time decision management solutions to the government and utility sectors in the US, today announced it has been successfully assessed at Level 4 of the SEI-CMM.

With this, CTE India joins an elite group of organizations worldwide that have achieved high maturity Level 4 of the SEI-CMM – the Capability Maturity Model of Software Engineering Institute, Carnegie Mellon University. Only about 80 companies in the world, so far, have achieved Level 4 capability maturity, as reported to the SEI.

CTE’s key software processes were successfully assessed at the maturity Level 4 of the SEI’s CMM in the assessment conducted by KPMG, a world-wide management consultancy. CMM is widely regarded as the best means to measure the quality and maturity of an organization's software development and maintenance processes.

The Level 4 CMM assessment signifies that CTE has a well-defined, measured process for software development from analysis to deployment and maintenance stages, and well integrated with the management processes.

"Quality has been at the forefront of all activities here at CTE. The Level 4 assessment is highly significant for the company and marks a milestone in our endeavors to provide high quality cutting-edge business solutions and products for our customers," says Mr Bhaskar Panigrahi, CEO, CTE, Inc.

“We are proud to join the select group of companies worldwide which have achieved this level of capability maturity,” he adds.

Commenting on the Level 4 Assessment, Mr G P Rastogi, Lead Assessor, KPMG, says that CTE made tremendous change on process improvement during the assessment, with the internal team objectively evaluating the quality systems and bringing in the required changes. “All the key process areas under repeatable, defined and managed levels have been rigorously assessed and CTE has achieved a strong Level 4,” he says.

“CTE has achieved the 'Managed' Level 4, thanks to a strong and effective quality management system, which guides the day-to-day processes. The senior management’s vision, the software development team’s in-depth technical knowledge and commitment toward continual improvement, coupled with their passion for excellence, has helped them become a world-class software products and business solutions company,” he adds.

And now taking the Quality initiative further, CTE has already initiated the process for achieving the highest level of maturity – CMMi Level 5, according to Mr R Srinivasa Reddy, Head – Quality.

“The Level 4 assessment is a symbol of our constant efforts at delivering high value software through innovation and excellence. We will continue to focus on our customers and sustain this momentum for continuous quality enhancement in future, too. We look forward to completing the CMMi Level 5 assessment in 18 months time,” he adds.
