| Cambridge, MA, February 4, 2005
— Cambridge Technology Enterprises (CTE) Inc., announces
the release of Regional Events Monitor (REM) 1.1. REM, a software solution
intended to support Federal, State and Local agencies in detecting and
communicating potential threats to public safety, is built on CTE’s
flagship product – Correlator.
CTE has successfully carried out two implementations: The City of Chula
Vista, and for the Kansas State University (KSU); its earlier version,
REM 1.0, was released in July 2004.
The REM application provides a set of tools and capabilities that link
seemingly unrelated event information from different source systems. The
application analyzes this combined data to determine possible threats
to the community, and then warns first responders and other agencies,
before a planned act of terrorism, or any other serious crime can take
place.
One of the primary benefits of REM is increased user efficiency. This
has a direct impact on the community by increasing public safety. It also
indirectly benefits the community by potential revenue gains through increased
commercial and residential tax base improvements in public education and
economic growth. By providing more information quicker, REM allows the
law enforcement community to act on the basis of available information.
The new version comes with significantly improved scalability –
REM services will now be able to be deployed in a distributed environment
regardless of platform/ physical location. It also supports the use of
Oracle Spatial capabilities, for Spatial Analysis - the software will
now be able to monitor/ search for events based on location and compare
that information to known places of interest.
This version, apart from improved user interface, also offers time zone
support, wherein all events and alerts are now processed based on GMT
and presented to users in local time. This assists in event sequencing
and general usability. Additionally, significant improvements have been
made in the ability to simulate events and monitors, allowing users more
flexibility in testing monitors before checking them in to Live areas.
Commenting on the application Jim D’ Augustine, Chief Technology
Officer – CTE Inc. said, "We continue to increase the flexibility,
power, and ease of use of REM with every release. And we’ll soon
complete certification on Oracle 10gAS and Oracle 10g RDBMS platforms,
giving our customers the option of leveraging Oracle’s world class
execution environment to run REM for real-time event processing."
