| Hyderabad, India, March 24, 2005
— Cambridge Technology Enterprises (CTE), a system integrator;
which focuses on building and integrating business applications for broad
transformation needs of energy & utilities and life-sciences &
healthcare sectors; today announced that it has been appraised at Level
5 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) of the Software
Engineering Institute (SEI), at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh,
PA. SEI CMMI is the industry standard process framework for appraising
software development processes. CMMI Level 5 is the highest process maturity
standard for the software industry.
CMMI is an internationally recognized and acclaimed framework for appraising
and improving software development capabilities. Its emphasis on quantitative
and statistical methods makes it a comprehensive model both at the organizational
level as well as in the actual implementation of projects.
CTE had started its process improvement journey in September 2002 and
was assessed at SEI CMM Level 4 in December 2003. Senior members from
KPMG software process consulting and staff members from CTE carried out
the appraisal.
“CTE’s CMMI Level 5 appraisal reinforces the value of
our collaborative global delivery model and ability to integrate cross-border
program management to improve our client’s business processes. Process
maturity is key to ensuring predictability of software solutions - higher
the maturity the more the assurance to our customers that we will continuously
optimize our processes to deliver the highest quality services and efficient
solutions." Stated Bhaskar Panigrahi, CEO – Cambridge
Technology Enterprises, Inc.
Expressing satisfaction over the CMMI Level 5 appraisal, Mr. G P Rastogi,
Lead Appraiser, KPMG, said, “CTE’s commitment towards
continuously improving its processes and systems is extremely commendable
and it has been an enriching experience to be associated with such a vibrant
company. CTE has greatly progressed beyond the CMM Level 4 processes.
The CMMI Level 5 maturity indeed is a milestone in the history of CTE
- something that the management and staff should be proud of.”
“CTE has consistently demonstrated organization-wide process
maturity. CMMI is more exhaustive and stringent as compared to CMM. CMMI
Level 5, which indicates a very high level of process maturity, has been
attained by around 50 software companies in the world. Today we are proud
to join the elite group of companies worldwide, which have achieved this
level of capability maturity. For our customers, CMMI Level 5 process
maturity would mean measurable and consistent value through shared business
goals, defect free, on-time delivery with improved efficiency and effectiveness.
We have already formally initiated the CMMI processes at our Cambridge
office and are optimistic about achieving this goal in the next 12 months.”
says R. Srinivasa Reddy, Vice President, Quality.
The Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model identifies
levels of maturity for a software organization. This model consists of
5 Levels: Level 1-Initial, Level 2-Managed, Level 3-Defined, Level 4-Quantitatively
Managed, and Level 5-Optimizing. Organizations at Level 5 are highly mature-they
systematically use measurement and analyses to improve processes.
